NIGHTMARE! December 31, 2008 no nym 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
AVOID THIS COMPANY!! My unit arrived broken. Haier customer service was rude & obnoxious. They were completely unapologetic & seemed to go out of their way to be UNHELPFUL. When I finally bullied them into action, they wanted a full week to send out a service man who may or may not have been able to fix it. I spoke to both customer service and corporate, both were extremely rude and entirely useless. What's more, neither one had the decency to so much as apologize. NEVER AGAIN. This was every internet buyer's nightmare!
Shipping Problems November 7, 2008 Amanda (Chicago, IL) I ordered this item yesterday, and it arrived only 24 hours later. Unfortunately, it arrived damaged to the point that it is unusable. A panel on the bottom is bent so that the fridge cannot sit squarely on the ground, and there are dents on the sides and corners. To be honest, I'm amazed it's not worse, as it was packed in only a plastic bag and the box, no additional packing materials. Both the size and the price are good, so I'm hoping that the replacement item that is being shipped to me will work out.
Had 2 wks. and it now won't work October 16, 2008 Mrs. C. (Ohio) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well I hate to be the one to leave a bad review, but I must. My husband and I bought this fridge and received it 2 wks. ago. Yesterday, my husband noticed that it was not making any noise and realized that the insides of the fridge were no longer cool. The compressor was so hot that it could not be touched. We unplugged it and let it cool down and thought that it would maybe come back to life. No such luck! It's dead. I have requested to send it back but I no longer can find the packaging slip so that I have the address to send it back to. We will see how returning it goes, but for that kind of $$. I just hope that they take it back and give me a refund.
Second Time Around October 7, 2008 coop (Southern California) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased this refrigerator for my office. It is to be shared by a group of 5 people, so I wanted one that was a little bigger than the typical compacts. I paid for overnight deliverly as others had suggested. The unit arrived in a box that had been previously opened. I was a bit worried when I removed the item from the box. It had some large dents on the side, but was otherwise ok. Once I plugged it in, I realized there were bigger issues. The motor was very loud and was cycling constantly. It would run for seven minutes and then would be off for four minutes, then on for seven, off for four - yes I actually timed it. Everytime the unit came on it startled me. At first I thought that once the motor broke in, that it would become quiet. That did not happen. After having the unit for 24 hours and spilling a cup of coffee on my desk from my rattled nerves, I called Amazon for a replacement unit. The new refrigerator arrived the next day. Once again, it arrived in a box that had previously been opened. The replacement had a large dent on the door, but otherwise works great. It is so quiet. I barely notice it when the motor is running. What a difference! I actually check it on occasion to make sure that it is working because I don't notice it at all. I switched doors with the first refrigerator and now I have a unit that has no significant dents and it doesn't interrupt my work environment. The actual refrigerator is nice looking and has a lot of interior space. After the experience with the first one, I am a bit concerned about the reliability, but for now, I am satisfied.
Pretty Darn Good September 30, 2008 Melissa Gardner 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok - first of all, if you're living in the dorms, don't forget that refrigerators make noise. Somehow that surprised me when I first started using this. It stops once it gets cold enough, so the noise isn't a huge issue all the time; and you get used to it. Mine arrived a little broken, the cheap plastic cover for the door hinge had cracked and broken off. The hinge itself kind of sticks up over the door which isn't pretty but also wasn't worth sending it back for. Other than that, this thing is awesome. I haven't tried freezing anything, but I can easily fit a week's groceries inside (I don't really cook so there's fruit/sandwich/yogurt/drink type stuff). It is about the height of a computer desk so can double as a prep table in tiny rooms which is awesome. I'm pretty sure this is bigger than the average dorm fridge, but it even has a reversable door hinge, so it'll fit just about anywhere. I would recommend it, as long as you are prepared for the possibility that it won't arrive in absolutely pristine condition.
